The "Gore Effect"

Gore Effect:

The phenomenon that leads to unseasonably cold temperatures, driving rain, hail, or snow whenever Al Gore visits an area to discuss global warming. Hence, the Gore Effect
~Urban Dictionary

I don't know whether it is poor planning on Gore's part, or some other cause, that causes this strange phenomenon, but it seems to be as real as global warming itself. It also seems that this phenomenon might not be limited to Gore himself, but anyone discussing global warming.

  • January 2004—Gore brings coldest temperatures in 50 years to aid his speech in Boston
  • November 2006—With summer 2 weeks away, Al Gore visits Australia, and brings enough cooling to reopen the ski resorts
Well, Ladies and Gentlemen, either the earth is in denial, or we have found our remedy for global warming:

IF IT GETS TOO HOT, INVITE AL GORE

Singular: "phenomenon"
Plural: "phenomena"
One of my pet peeves: misuse of English
